ALFIE KINGSTON

Singer songwriter and guitarist Alfie Kingston will be performing at the Sirens Calling on Portishead marina from 4.30pm. From uplifting ballads to delicate acoustic guitar solos, as a writer Kingston draws from a wide range of influences whilst maintaining a distinct individuality that sets him apart from his contemporaries.­ There are elements of the country-tinged, melodic rock and poetic lyricism of the Counting Crows and REM, as well as nods to the polished rock epics of ‘Use Your Illusion’ era Guns 'n' Roses and the pop sensibilities of The Beatles and Cat Stevens.  Meanwhile his covers range from 60s classics through to the 00s so there’s something for everyone.

THE DYLEGANS

BARN DANCE

The extremely popular Rotary Club charity barn dance which takes place at Somerset Hall in Portishead High Street from 7.30pm. The entertainment will include the much loved caller Jill Elliot and live music will be provided by the Highly Strung band.

Speakeasy Jazz Club at Clarence House Presents, Julian Marc Stringle with The Craig Milverton Trio

Multi-award winning Julian Stringle, recognised as one of the most stylish performers of the clarinet in Europe, comes to Portishead this month courtesy of the Speakeasy Jazz Club.

With his rock star persona and unique highly melodic sound and phenomenal technique, there’s no doubt jazz lovers are in for a treat.

Julian’s influences range from Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw to Oscar Peterson and Acker Bilk. He made his TV debut with Acker Bilk when only 15 and has played Wembley Stadium with Meatloaf! For the past 15 years he has played alongside Paul Jones in Digby Fairweather's Half Dozen.

He performs at Clarence House in Portishead High Street on 30th January, joined by one of the UK’s finest trios with Craig Milverton on piano, Ashley John Long playing double bass and Nick Milward on drums.

Show 8.00pm. Doors open 7.00pm. Admission £20. No membership required. Clarence House boasts a full bar and free parking.
