Events in and around Portishead

Residents are invited to come along to the Fedden Room at the Town Council offices for one of two drop-in sessions offering support and guidance on responding to the Tower Farm planning application. 

The sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to find out more about the application, ask questions, and receive assistance with submitting comments through the planning process. Town Councillors will be on hand throughout the sessions to help residents understand the planning application, explain how to submit comments, and answer any questions they may have. 

A presentation organised by Gordano Civic Society given by Oliver Daley who is a local historian with a particular interest in the Second World War, researching many local Bristol people with memories of the “ friendly invasion “ by the Yanks. Oliver will share some of the fascinating stories he has researched including individual tales of G I experiences, stories from local Bristolians and newspapers, photographs of Bristol and surrounding areas including surveys of buildings and camps used by the Americans. Entrance is £1 for members and £3 for visitors, although membership of the Society for the season at £10 can be purchased on the night. Refreshments included. Free car parking opposite. The Society's range of publications will be available to purchase.

Remembrance Day Parade and Church Service

• 10:15am - Parade assembles at the High Street
• 10:45am - The Act of Remembrance will begin
• 11:00am - Two minutes silence will begin
• 11:05am - Parade moves off via the High Street Residents and visitors are welcome to watch the parade as it travels along the High Street
• 11:30am - Service in St Peter's Church

Please avoid parking in the High Street and all along the parade route. ROAD CLOSURES will be in place between 9:30am-12:15pm. 

Any vehicles not moved before 9:45am will not be permitted legally to move until the roads are re-opened at 12:15pm. 

Roads affected will be Portishead High Street between Church Road South and Combe Road, Stoke Road, Church Road South with restricted access to the High Street at Brampton Way and Church Road North. Diversions will be via St Peters Road, Slade Road and Combe Avenue.

We plan to have a vehicle at the rear for two reasons: To follow the parade at a safe distance, then collect veterans from the saluting dais and take them to the church. Please note, the road will be closed to unauthorised vehicles.

To create a clear end to the parade. In previous years, parents following their children closely has disrupted the flow, preventing children from proudly marching past the dais. Please encourage parents to give the children space to shine. We understand that parents in uniform leading groups will be positioned at the front and back of their divisions.

A short interdenominational service followed by a 2 minute silence at 11am.

Portishead Town Council is inviting residents to attend the next Portishead Bus Meeting.

The meeting will focus on local public transport issues and provide an opportunity for residents to speak directly with councillors and representatives involved in managing and improving local bus services.

Floral Demonstration with National Flower Arranger Tracey Griffen with her demo 'Winter Warmth'

This is a ticketed event - tickets available in advance - there will be a small amount available on the evening numbers are limited. Tickets £20.00 pp this includes entry and light refresments.

Demonstration 7.30 start /doors open at 7pm - we will have a few stalls , jams, chutneys, jewellery, cards and gifts.  There will also be a raffle to win one of Tracey's amazing displays
