Yanks in Bristol – when the U.S. Military came to Bristol in WW2

A presentation organised by Gordano Civic Society given by Oliver Daley who is a local historian with a particular interest in the Second World War, researching many local Bristol people with memories of the “ friendly invasion “ by the Yanks. Oliver will share some of the fascinating stories he has researched including individual tales of G I experiences, stories from local Bristolians and newspapers, photographs of Bristol and surrounding areas including surveys of buildings and camps used by the Americans. Entrance is £1 for members and £3 for visitors, although membership of the Society for the season at £10 can be purchased on the night. Refreshments included. Free car parking opposite. The Society's range of publications will be available to purchase.
