Siren Testing - Severnside Sirens

In Avonmouth, just three miles from Portishead, there are a number of companies handling chemicals and dangerous substances. Severnside Sirens are to warn the residents of Avonmouth and neighbouring towns and villages, like Portishead, of any incidents involving these substances. These sirens are tested on the third day of each month at 3pm. You can find out more about the sirens and what to do in an emergency at the link below.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

A section of the High Street will be closed to traffic for the event. Expect festive music and banter, a visit from Santa, who will collect any mail the children have for him ahead of the big countdown (please make sure the children's letters have their name and address on if they want to receive a reply) before the flicking of that big red switch to catapult the town centre in to an array of Christmas colour and cheer. Please note: the event will conclude with a short firework display.
