Siren Testing - Severnside Sirens

In Avonmouth, just three miles from Portishead, there are a number of companies handling chemicals and dangerous substances. Severnside Sirens are to warn the residents of Avonmouth and neighbouring towns and villages, like Portishead, of any incidents involving these substances. These sirens are tested on the third day of each month at 3pm. You can find out more about the sirens and what to do in an emergency at the link below.

Wednesdays, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th August 2-4
There is plenty of space to run, sit, and play under the willow trees. Families enjoy healthy snacks and all-age seasonal activities.
These events are especially aimed at families with primary-aged children, although younger and older siblings are welcome too.
We will have snacks for the kids and hot drinks for the adults. This event will happen even if it rains, so pack a waterproof and come join the fun!
All under 18's must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them at all times.

Begin Writing Weekend Workshop

If you've ever wanted to try creative writing but haven't had the confidence or the time, then come along to Begin Writing's Weekend Workshop this summer. Be inspired by prompts to create your own stories, poems and memoirs. No one is expected to read aloud their work but there will be lots of opportunities to talk about your ideas with others. Unlimited hot/cold drinks included as well as pastries and sweet treats. I hope to see you there!

Bereavement Support Group

Grieving doesn't stop after the funeral and everyone's journey is different. The Bereavement Support Group meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Lighthouse Cafe of St. Nicholas Church on Nore Road 2.30-4pm. Portishead Church of England is offering an informal setting with space to share memories or just sit with others in a similar situation. It is not counselling but a listening, empathetic ear. An optional craft activity, tea and coffee is offered free of charge. Parking available at rear.
