Portishead Crowns New Carnival Royalty
18 March 2026
Locals gathered at Clarence House to celebrate the town’s latest carnival royalty, with festivities marking the start of the countdown to June’s procession.
Portishead came together in vibrant fashion to celebrate this year’s carnival coronation day, with a mix of music, dancing and community pride welcoming the town’s new royal family.
Held at Clarence House on the High Street, the event drew crowds from across the area, with festivities running from afternoon into the evening. The day began with a high-energy prince and princess disco, where Robyn Stuckley was crowned carnival princess, Ronnie Clarke was named carnival prince and Isabella Evans took the title of flower princess. Supporting the young royals are attendants Olivia Matthews, Florence Davis, Florence Grace Cooper, Estella Rose Coward Worral and Marnie Bray.
As the celebrations continued into the evening, guests enjoyed a lively royal ball featuring entertainment from local band The Sirens. During the event, Nick Roach and Wendy Watkins were officially crowned carnival king and queen, alongside Kimberley Jones, who was appointed lady-in-waiting.
Attention now shifts to 13 June, when the newly crowned carnival court will take centre stage in Portishead’s much-anticipated procession through the town.
While the planned It’s a Knockout event on 6 June has unfortunately been cancelled, organisers have confirmed it will be replaced by a fundraising colour run—promising a bright and energetic launch to carnival week.
