Portishead Health Professional Takes on Prestigious Role with GB Disabled Strongman

23 February 2026

Doctor of Chiropractic, Jack Cleeve, has been appointed head of performance health for GB Disabled Strongman

As head of performance health for GB Disabled Strongman, Dr Jack will be supporting elite adaptive athletes representing Great Britain at the highest level of international strength sport. His appointment marks the culmination of years working with strength athletes and developing a deep understanding of how the human body performs under extreme physical pressure. In his new role, he will support athletes as they prepare for and compete on the world stage, helping them stay strong, resilient and competitive throughout their careers.
His work focuses on optimising movement, improving neuromuscular function, supporting recovery and reducing injury risk — all critical factors in elite performance sport where physical demands are exceptionally high. The ultimate goal, he explains, is not only peak performance, but longevity.

While the athletes he supports may be lifting atlas stones and flipping tyres weighing hundreds of kilograms, Jack believes the principles behind elite performance health are just as relevant closer to home.

“The body doesn’t differentiate between lifting competition equipment and lifting everyday loads” he says. “Whether that’s gardening, exercising, sitting at a desk or picking up grandchildren, the body simply responds to the demands placed upon it.”

One key lesson from elite sport, he notes, is the emphasis on prevention rather than crisis management. High-level athletes rarely wait until their bodies completely fail before seeking support. Instead, they prioritise movement quality, recovery and long-term health to stay active and competitive.

Those same principles, Jack believes, can help people in everyday life move more comfortably, avoid recurring injuries and remain active with their families for longer.

“If your body isn’t moving, recovering or performing the way it should, there’s a very good chance it can be improved,” he says. “You don’t need to compete for Great Britain to start looking after your body like it matters.”

Dr Jack, who runs Life Aligned Chiropractic Clinic in Portishead, says the role will be alongside running his Portishead practice and will not affect his patients.
