Crowds flock to Portishead's first gardening show of the year

Portishead marked the arrival of the growing season with the return of its popular Spring Show at the Folk Hall. Run by the Portishead and District Horticultural Society, the annual event signals the beginning of the local gardening calendar and attracted visitors from across the town.

The hall was transformed into a vibrant display of colour, with rows of flowers and neatly arranged exhibits creating a bright, seasonal atmosphere. Visitors were also treated to refreshments, with tea, coffee and homemade cakes adding to the sense of community.

More than 200 entries were showcased, spanning a wide variety of categories. Displays included spring plants, homegrown produce, baking, preserves and detailed handicrafts. There were also exhibits of photography, artwork and creative miniature gardens, highlighting the diverse skills of local residents.

A society spokesperson said they were pleased with the turnout and expressed thanks to everyone who contributed, attended or volunteered.
