Schools
Gordano School is Portishead's only comprehensive school and it is one of high repute with excellent examination results. It has a long-established reputation for success that has been based on hard work and high standards.
There are five schools in the town that teach primary aged children and several private tuition organisations.
The town has a number of excellent Ofsted-rated nurseries and preschools to choose from, toddler groups and classes for under fives.
There is also a Children's Centre, which is situated in the former St Barnabas School building on West Hill.
With the town continuing to grow, school places can sometimes be in short supply, however within a short distance of Portishead there are many independent schools providing an outstanding all-round education for children of all ages.
