Portishead Lions Club

Portishead Lions have been serving the Portishead community and surrounding villages for 56 years. Working closely with other community groups the Lion volunteers' motto is "We Serve".  Funds are raised through a range of exciting initiatives such as the Santa and Easter Floats, Birthday Surprise Flamingos, Car Boot Sales, Raffles and even Wing Walking.  At least 80% of funds are actively returned to support a range of local community projects for example:

• Sponsoring and maintaining 34 local defibrillators (see our map)
• Assisting at the Portishead Youth and Community Centre
• The introduction of a new annual Youth Grant award which supports local youth groups & Individuals with either funds or support to help the young people of Portishead achieve their goals
• Spring into Wellbeing events which provides free blood testing and access to local wellbeing support groups
• Financial support for the Portishead & Pill Food Bank
• Assisting local disability and senior citizen organisations
• Supporting local Cub groups with bird box projects

The Lions Club meets on the 2nd Monday of every month at Portishead Youth & Community Centre and are always seeking new members who want to help their community whilst also benefiting from being part of a fun and social local group.  If you are interested in joining, please contact us through our Facebook page or our website.
