Record crowds attended Remembrance Day parade
11 November 2025
People from across Portishead gathered to remember those who served to defend our country, democracy and way of life.
The local community did Portishead proud once again as hundreds of families lined the parade route on Remembrance Sunday to pay their respects.
The parade assembled at 10.30am at the Stoke Road and High Street junction with an Act of Remembrance service taking place at the junction at 10.45am. A two minute silence was observed at 11am, which was followed by the last post played by a bugler from Portishead Town Band before the parade set off along the High Street to St Peter’s Church were a Remembrance Day service took place. A salute was taken outside Tudor Garage where veterans and other VIPs were gathered and the Royal British Legion Memorial Stone at the Brampton Way (Albert Road) junction was also acknowledge by those marching.
One spectator observed: “It was an extremely moving experience to be a part of the crowds lining the street as Portishead’s Remembrance Parade, which include the Town Band, veterans, serving military personnel and a whole host of community groups, marched by. There was a great sense of great and respect among both those taking part and those watching.”
An open service and two minute silence also took place in Portishead on Armistice Day, 11th November at Waitrose piazza.
