Local opinion is being sought on the building of more new homes in Portishead

A meeting at Somerset Hall to discuss North Somerset Council’s draft local plan for 2026–2041 was filled to capacity. The plan proposes significant new housing developments in Portishead with the current draft plan includes the construction of at least 400 new homes at Tower Farm and 100 in North Weston - both sites located in the Green Belt on either side of Weston Big Wood.

The meeting demonstrated an overwhelming rejection of the plans by local residents and for these views to be taken in to consideration, all residents are encouraged to take part in the Local Plan Consultation. To assist with this, Portishead Town Council is holding drop-in support sessions, providing in-person guidance for anyone who would like assistance completing the consultation online.

Support sessions will take place at the Folk Hall, 95 High Street, Portishead, where councillors will be available to walk residents through the process and answer questions.

Two sessions so far scheduled are Tuesday 2nd December, 12–3pm in the Eve Wigan Room and on Monday 8th December, 4–7pm in the Fedden Room.

Residents are invited to drop in at any time during the sessions.

The consultation closes on 12th December 2025.
